ART FARMER is an inverse graffiti project. Phase one involved mounting clean, white and orange sheets of steel on the exterior of public walls in the New York City metro area. These ‘clean spots’ on otherwise graffiti covered walls were left in place for one year. Photos were taken along the way documenting the transformation provoked by the random confluence of anonymous graffiti writers and the effects of weather .
One calendar year after the initial ‘planting’ the pieces were ‘harvested’ as finished works of art.
Phase two will involve mounting pieces in countries around the world starting with the city of Buenos Aires in Spring 2008.
